Whatever you think of multiverses, they do make a fascinating thought experiment. How would this character behave if something were different? What if they lived in the Old West instead of Feudal Japan? (Think “Seven Samurai” and “The Magnificent Seven.”) What if someone else were bitten by that spider? (Think The Spiderverse.) Just think, what if…? Better yet, read about it!
Welcome to Multiversal, Havok Publishing’s 2025 season. Each month, Havok’s authors are tackling a different “guest star,” a character designed by award-winning authors like Kerry Nietz (January’s Joe Enza) and Nadine Brandes (February’s Kytt Windthorn). Readers can explore how the same character, only different, faces mysteries, thrillers, sci-fi, fantasies, and (my personal favorite) wackiness! Seeing the similarities and the differences of the same character in different “universes” makes for mighty fun flashes*.
Check gohavok.com tomorrow (Wednesday, February 19) for my take on Kytt Windthorn, a young thief with principles.
*Flash fiction is a complete story in 1000 words or less. A quick read of concentrated goodness!
